His ship Scuabtuinne or “Wave Sweeper” can fly over the sea. His coat and magical fog Feth fiada (“Mist of the Lord”) makes one invisible. He offers these powers to brave heroes who set out to fight important battles. He also helped the Irish hero Lugh to defeat Fomorians. Manannan is responsible for turning points in many Celtic myths but rarely plays the central role. He is known for his humble nature and honesty. He mainly inspired others to take on new challenges and fight evil. He is also known as the hero of Eirinn or the first king of Mannin (the Isle of Man).
