Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a state in East Asia. Neighboring states include the People's Republic of China to the west, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south. Taiwan is the most populous state and largest economy that is not a member of the United Nations.The New Taiwan dollar is the official currency of the Republic of China (ROC) used in the Taiwan Area. The New Taiwan dollars has been the currency of Taiwan since 1949 when it replaced the Old Taiwan dollar. Today we at looking at a 50 cents note issued in 1949. The note specifications are as follows:
This tan red coloured note has the portrait of Dr Sun Yat-Sen, a Chinese politician, physician and philosopher who provisionally served as the first president of the Republic of China; and the first leader of the Kuomintang, on the obverse. The reverse has the Bank of Taiwan Head Office Building in Taipei and the map of Taiwan.
