The Qajar dynasty was an Iranian royal dynasty of Turkic origin. The Qajar family took control of Iran, deposing the last Shah of the Zand dynasty.Muzaffar al-Din Shah, the fifth Shah to rule the Qajar dynasty was born on 23 March 1853 AD. He ascended the throne in May 1896 and ruled until his death in 1907. He is often credited with the creation of the Persian constitution and National Assembly of Iran (Majlis).
He attempted some reforms of the central treasury. He issue gold, silver, and copper coins in the denomination of Toman, Dinar, Kran, and Shahi. The obverses of his coin portray the bust of Shah. On the other hand, the reverse of a coin has Persian legend ‘al-sultan al-’azam wa’l khaqan al-afkham Muzaffar al-din shah qajar’ with date.
