Ja'far Khan of Zand dynasty

Jafar Khan was the seventh Shah of the Zand dynasty from 1785 to 1789 AD. He was the son of Sadiq Khan (5th Shah of Zand), who was removed from the throne in Shiraz by Ali Murad Khan, who had previously taken Isfahan for himself. Jafar Khan failed to follow the policies of Karim Khan (founder of Zand dynasty) and soon enough, the country was under attack from all sides.During the reign he issued gold and silver coins from Isfahan and Shiraz mints. These coins were issued in the denomination of Mohur, Shahi, Abbasi, and Rupi.
The above shown gold quarter Mohur was issued in his reign from Shiraz mint. The obverse of a coin has legend 'Ya Emam Ja'far Sadeq' meaning 'O Imam Ja'far Sadeq'. On the other hand, the reverse of a coin has Mint name with epithet, and date.
