Burhan Nizam Shah II was a ruler of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate in Deccan. The Deccan Sultanate was the five Muslim Dynasties that had ruled several Indian Kingdoms during the medieval period. The Deccan sultanates were located on the Deccan Plateau, between the Krishna River and the Vindhya Range these five Muslim Dynasties were Bijapur, Golkonda, Ahmadnagar, Bidar and Berar.Ahmadnagar Sultanate was established by Malik Ahmad, the Bahamain governor of Junnar after defeating Jahangir Khan in the year 1940. Burhan Nizam Shah II sat on the throne of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate in the year 1591 CE and ruled it till 1595 CE.
Burhan Nizam Shah II ruled the Ahmadnagar Sultanate for a very short period of time. Burhan Nizam Shah II was an incapable ruler; he was very much addicted to women and wine which ultimately led to his fall.
This Pagoda was issued by Burhan Nizam Shah II during the Hijri year 1001 from the mint Burhanabad. The weight of this gold pagoda is around 3.4g.
