Zain-ul-Abidin was the sultan of Kashmir Sultante, he sat on the throne of Kashmir Sultanate in the year 1420 CE and ruled it till 1470 CE. The real name of Zain-ul-Abidin was ‘Shahi Khan’. He sat on the throne of Kashmir Sultante after defeating his brother Ali Shah in the battle with the title Zain-ul-Abidin.Zain-ul-Abidin sat on the throne with the aim to rule wisely and with justice. Unlike his predecessor, he was tolerance of Hindu religion and was permitted its observance. He also undertook many public works, promote learning, etc.
Zain-ul-Abidin issued coins in gold, silver and copper. In gold he issued Dinar which weighs around 11.2g. In silver he issued denominations like Tanka, Sasnu and Half-Sasnu which weighs around 10.8, 6.2g and 3g. In copper he issued denominations like Kaserah and Half-Kaserah. Kaserah he issued in two weight standard; one with 4.8-5.5g and other with 6-6.5g. Half Kaserah weighs around 2.8-3.0g.
