Perth Mint’s April 2016 Coin Releases

The Perth Mint of Australia’s April 2016 releases are dedicated to kangaroos, eagles and Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday and other such interesting subjects.

2016 Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Coins include St Edward’s Crown surrounded by wattle branches on the reverse. Other inscriptions include ‘H. M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II’, ‘90TH BIRTHDAY’, ‘21-4-2016’ and the coin’s composition. Obverses feature a portrait of the Queen with inscriptions ‘ELIZABETH II’, ‘AUSTRALIA’, ‘2016’ and the coin’s legal tender face value.

The 2016 $2 Mini Roo gold coin shows an image of the marsupial looking over its shoulder.

The reverse of the 2016 Wedge-Tailed Eagle Gold and Silver Coins feature the wedge-tailed eagle perched on the branch of a tree. Other inscriptions include ‘AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE’ and the coin’s composition.

The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Silver Three-Coin Set is dedicated to the three historic First World War. The first coin depicts the Thuillier photograph of two Australian soldiers; the second coin features Peter Corlett’s Cobbers statue and the final coin bears a portrayal of the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

A colourful Ocean Fairy adorns the reverse of 2016 Tuvalu legal tender 50c Ocean Fairy, 99.9% fine silver proof coin. The fairy can be seen sitting on a rock with the ocean behind her.
