2019-04-25 Thu
Jersey, officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, is a Crown dependency located near the coast of Normandy, France. Jersey is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, with its own financial, legal and judicial systems, and the power of self-determination.The pound is the currency of Jersey. Jersey is in a currency union with the United Kingdom, and the Jersey pound is not a separate currency. Both Jersey and Bank of England notes are legal tender in Jersey and circulate together, alongside the Guernsey pound and Scottish banknotes.
Today we are looking at a 20-pound banknote issued in 2010. The obverse depicts the States Building (Assembly of the States of Jersey), Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II; Coat of Arms (Three leopards) of Jersey. The reverse depicts the emblems of the twelve parishes of Jersey; La Rocco Tower (Gordon's ower) in Saint Jean; Interior of the States Chambers (The States Building); and the Jersey map outline as a see-through feature.
