United States of America had issued a Commemorative silver dollar with the theme of World War I. This silver dollar was issued to mark the 100 anniversary of World War I. The World War I took place in 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and lasted until 1918.This Centennial Silver Dollar was issued to honour the people who had lost their lives during this Great War. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘Soldier's Charge,” depicts an almost stone-like soldier gripping a rifle. Barbed wire twines in the lower right-hand side of the design’. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Poppies in the Wire," which features abstract poppies mixed in with barbed wire’.
