Bengal Sultan Shams al-din Firuz Shah Silver Tanka

Shams al-din Firuz Shah was an independent ruler of Bengal Sultanate; he sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate in the year 1300 CE and ruled it till 1320 CE. He sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate with the title ‘Al-Sultan Al-Azam Shams Al-Duniya was Al-Din Abu Al-Muzaffar Firuz Shah Al-Sultan’ and also invoked the names of Abbasid caliph Mustasim Billah on his coins.Shams Al-din Firuz Shah sat on the throne of Bengal Sultanate in the year 1300 CE and ruled it till 1316 CE. But, in the year 1316 CE, he was replaced by his son Shihab-Al-Din Bughra. Shams Al-Din Firiz shah was thrown out by his son and replaced the throne in his own name. Later in the year, 1319 Shams-Al-Din Firuz Shah came in action and again replaces the throne in his own name.
This silver tanka was issued by Shams-Al-Din Firuz Shah from the mint Khitta Lakhnauti. The weight of this silver tanka is around 10.8g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Al-Azam Shams Al-Dunya Wa’l Din Abul Muzaffar Firuz Shah Al-Sultan’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with Al-Imam Legend; Caliph Al-Musta'Sim.
