1927-D Peace dollar graded MS 66+ Sold For $176,250

A 1927-D Peace dollar graded MS 66+ by PCGS with a green CAC sticker crossed its estimated value range of $75,000 to $85,000 and was sold for $176,250 at Legend’s Regency Auction 31 on 21st March in Las Vegas. No coins of this type have been graded MS-67 or finer by PCGS. A total of three coins have been graded MS 66+, making the offered coin one of three finest known examples. The surfaces are impressive and apart from a small frost break on the neck and tick, the coin is in stunning condition. Experts claim that a coin of this type in MS67 grade can have a market value of up to $250,000. A similar coin graded PCGS MS-66 example was sold for $21,600 at Stack’s Bowers Galleries in October last year in Baltimore.Several other interesting coins were sold at the auction. A Mint Proof 1893-CC Morgan dollar graded PCGS Proof 65+ with a green CAC sticker was sold for $305,500. A 1795 Capped Bust, Small Eagle gold $10 eagle PCGS graded MS 64+ with CAC green sticker could not reach its $1-million estimate when the CAC and was sold for $822,000 instead.
