Postiljonen is going to offer several interesting postage stamps from Scandinavia and other countries on 29th and 30 March at Oresundshuset, Hans Michelsensgatan 9, in Malmo, Sweden. A special catalogue is dedicated for part 6 of the Gummesson Grand Prix D’honneur collection of Finland.A First Day Cover of Norway’s first stamp, the 4-skilling blue, issued on 1st January 1855, is going to be offered at a starting bid of €10,000. Only two known First Day Covers of this type exist today. The stamp on the cover front is marked in black by a grid postmark. The postmark reads “KONGSVINGER 1.1 1855”.
A cover mailed from Stockholm to Stettin in 1857, franked with a strip of three Swedish1855 6-skilling banco grey stamps and a single 3sk blue-green stamp, is going to be offered at a starting bid of €25,000. It’s the largest strip featuring the 6-skilling stamp. The cover was owned by Col. Edward H.R. “Ned” Green.
A rare 1858 Rancken cover, franked with six of the 1856-58 5-kopeck blue Finnish stamps with small pearls is going to be offered at a starting bid of €75,000. One strip contains five stamps which are the largest recorded strip containing the 5-kopeck stamps. The item is a part of a Gummesson collection.
