Latest Vietnamese Stamp Commemorates Hanoi Summit

On 26th February, Vietnam released a new 4,000-dong postage stamp to commemorate the 2-day Hanoi summit between President Donald J. Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un that was organised on 27th February.Symbolic images like the flag of Vietnam, a colourful peace dove, and a heart-shaped handshake depicting flags of North Korea and the United States are featured on the stamp. A bamboo forest and a pavilion in the Temple of Literature named Khue Van Cac, selected as the symbol of Hanoi in 2012, are the elements which represent Vietnam. The inscriptions “Partnership for Sustainable Peace” and “DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam” are also depicted on the stamp.
Designed by Nguyen Du and To Minh Trang of Vietnam Post, the stamp was issued in a pane of eight. English inscriptions shown on the stamp and a lotus symbol are featured on the selvage. Out of the 2 million stamps that are planned to be released, 800,000 were completed by the issue date and all of them were sold out by 27th February. The remaining ones will be printed and released as per availability. The entire process from design, print to release was completed within a record time of five days.
