Qutb-Al-Din Mubarak was the last sultan of Khilji Dynasty, he ruled Delhi Sultanate from 1316 CE till 1320 CE. Khilji dynasty was founded by Jalal ud din Firuz Khilji and they were the second dynasty to rule the Delhi Sultanate of India. They were a Muslim dynasty of Turkish origin, who ruled the last part of South Asia between 1290 and 1320. Qutb Al-Din Mubarak was murdered by Khusro Khan in the year 1320 which ended the Khilji dynasty.Qutb Al-Din Mubarak had ruled Delhi for about four years and in these four years of reign, he issued coins in four metals gold, silver, billon and copper. According to the mint master Peru, he issued around 44 different denominations, which contains more than 70 different types during his four years reign. During; first few years of this reign he issued coins in all his coins in round shape and later from the Hijri year 718 he issued all his coins in a square shape.
This silver square tanka issued by him listed for INR 1, 00,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery which will be held in Mumbai on 19th April 2019. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al Sultan ibn Al-Sultan Al Wathia Billah Amir Al-Mu’minin’ within the square mint name ‘Qila Qutbabad’ and Hijri date 718 written in the margin. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Al Imam Al Azam Al-Alamin Qutb Al-Dunya Wa'din Abul Muzaffar Mubarak Shah.
