Tennessee is a state located in the South-eastern United States of America. It is the 36th largest and the 16th most populous of the 50 United States. It is bordered by Kentucky to the north, Virginia to the northeast, North Carolina to the east, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to the south, Arkansas to the west, and Missouri to the northwest.Tennessee is a state which produces maximum soldiers for the Confederate Army than any other state besides Virginia. Tennessee is also well known for its nickname ‘The Volunteer State’. Tennessee got this name because it had played a major role during the war of 1812; it had played a prominent role by volunteering soldiers; especially during the Battle of New Orleans. This nickname refers to volunteers for the Mexican–American War.
The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter dollar of Tennessee State in the year 2002. This quarter dollar first coin issued in the year 2002 and overall it is 16th coin release in 50 State Quarters Program.
