Spooky Coin That Evokes the Feeling of Being Trapped
2019-03-14 Thu
Coin Invest Trust recently released a spooky 5 Dollars Silver coin for Cook Islands featuring a scary silhouette of a face with its mouth wide open on the reverse side. The face seems to be covered by a cloth which is fixed on the coin's rim. Other inscriptions on the reverse side include the texts TRAPPED and 2019 in a canted position.A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse. Initials IRB of designer Ian Rank-Broadley, sovereign’s name, country name and denomination are also depicted on the obverse. The coin is struck in 1 oz. of Silver .999 in Antique Finish and has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres. A total of 999 such coins have been produced at B. H. Mayer’s Kunstprageanstalt, Munich.
The coin design is based on the basic fear that every human being experiences in life – the fear of being trapped somewhere somehow and not being able to move. The latest Smartminting technology was used to recreate the fabric's fine texture and high-relief design. The obverse side is struck in Proof Quality but with an antique finish. The coin’s concept has also been explored in several popular horror and science fiction films.
