Five Kori of Madansinghji

Kutch was a relatively large Indian Princely State during the British Raj. Its territories covered the present day Kutch region of Gujarat north of the Gulf of Kutch.Madansinghji was the last ruler of Princely State of Kutch. He ruled the state from 1947 to 1948 AD. During the reign, he issued copper and silver coins from Bhuj mint. These coins were issued in the denomination of Kori and Dhabu.
Depicted above 5 Kori was also issued in his reign. The obverse of a coin has legend ‘Maharaja Dhiraj Mirza Maharau Shree Madanasinghji Sawai Bahadur’ VS date, Crescent flanked by Trident and Katar, Value, Mint name. The reverse of a coin has Devanagari legend ‘Jai Hind’.
