The city of New York is also known as New York City (NYC) or simply New York. It is one of the most popular cities in the United States and therefore it is also known as the state of New York. It is also one of the most densely populated cities in the United States.The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter dollar of New York. This quarter dollar was issued by the United States of America on 2nd January 2001. This quarter dollar is the first quarter dollar issued in the year 2001 and overall it is 11th quarter dollar issued in 50 State Quarters Program. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of President George Washington. The reverse of the coin depicts the image of ‘Statue of Liberty’ with the outline map of New York at the background and 11 stars represent its position when admitted into the Union.
