Kuwait's Commemoratives of 25th National Day
2019-03-04 Mon
Kuwait issued a set of three stamps in the year 1886 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the National Day.On In June 1961, Kuwait became independent with the end of the British protectorate and the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became Emir of Kuwait. From time to time, Kuwait Post issues a set of 3 stamps to celebrate the independence of the country.
Similarly on 25th February 1986, Kuwait celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the National Day with the set of three stamps. The stamps were issued with three values of 15 Kuwaiti fils, 30 Kuwaiti fils and 80 Kuwaiti fils.
The stamps depict three birds in the centre in order of the national flag of the country with the same colours on the background flanked by 25th Anniversary of the National Day and the date in Roman as well as Arabic on left and right respectively. The country’s name and the denomination value in roman and Arabic are seen at the top and bottom respectively.
Kuwait's national day, however, is celebrated on 25 February, on the day of the anniversary of the coronation of Sheikh Abdullah. It was originally celebrated on 19 June, the date of independence, but concerns over the summer heat caused the government to move it.
