Daud Shah Kararani of Bengal Sultanate

The Bengal Sultanate was an independence medieval Islamic state in the Indian subcontinent established on the coast of Bay of Bengal in 1342. The sultanate was dominated by numerous dynasties of Turkic, Arab, and Persian, Bengali and Abyssinian origin.Daud Shah Kararani ruled the Bengal Sultanate from 1572 to 1576 AD. During the reign, he issued silver coins in the denomination of Rupee and Half Rupee. All these coins were struck at Patna, Satgaon, and Tanda mint.
The above shown silver Rupee was issued in his reign. The obverse of a coin has Kalima ‘La Ilaha Illahu Muhammadur Rasulullah’ and the name of four Khalif-e-Rashidoons written in the Margin. The reverse of a coin has Persian legend ‘Da'Ud Shah Sulaiman Shah Kararani Khallada Allah Mulkahu Wa Sultanahu’.
