Chupke Chupke Raat Din Aansoo Bahana Yaad Hai Hamko ab tak aashiqi ka wo zamana yaad hai… Do you remember this melodious lyric! The author of this beautiful Ghazal is none other than Hasrat Mohani, the great Urdu poet and activist of Indian independence movement.Syed Fazl-ul-Hasan Hasrat Mohani is also known as Hasrat Mohani was born on 14th October 1878 at Mohan in United Provinces, Today Uttar Pradesh. He completed his studies from Aligarh Muslim University, where some of his colleagues were Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Maulana Shaukat Ali.
It was Mohani who coined the immortal slogan of Indian Revolution ‘Inqilaab Zindabad’ in 1921, which was later popularised by Bhagat Singh and his associate. He was involved in many freedom movements for which he was imprisoned.
Mohani was one of the founders of the Communist Party of India. He was also the first person who demanded complete Independence (Azadi-e-Kaamil) at the Ahmadabad session of INC in 1921. In recognition for his efforts, he was made a member of the constituent assembly which drafted the Indian constitution.
To honour this great leader India Post has issued 500 Paisa (5 Rupee) Commemorative postage stamp in 2014.
