The Communist Manifesto – guidebook of communism was published today on 21st February 1848. Today is the 171st Anniversary of this historical document that changed the map of the world.Published in London, the Communist Manifesto is an 1848 political pamphlet by the German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The Communist Manifesto summarizes Marx and Engels' theories concerning the nature of society and politics. It also briefly features their ideas for how the capitalist society of the time would eventually be replaced by socialism.
The Communist Manifesto is divided into a preamble and four sections i.e. materialist conception of history, Proletarians and Communists, Socialist and Communist Literature and Position of the Communists in Relation to the Various Opposition Parties. Near the end of the Manifesto, the authors call for "forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions" which served as the justification for all communist revolutions around the world.
The Soviet Union issued a set of two stamps in the year 1948 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of "The Communist Manifesto”. The stamps were issued with the denominations of 30 Russian kopeks and 50 Russian kopeks. They depict portraits of Karl Marks and Friedrich Engels on left and right respectively.
They are inscribed with the 100th anniversary of "The Communist Manifesto" in Russian flanked by the dates 1848 and 1948. The manifesto is seen below the portraits of the authors between the two branches. Name of the country is seen at the bottom flanked by the denomination value.
In 2013, The Communist Manifesto was registered to UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme along with Marx's Capital, Volume I.
