Da Vinci's Drawings Featured by Royal Mail

Great Britain’s Royal Mail is issuing 12 stamps February 13 showing drawings from the Royal Collection by Leonardo da Vinci.The Royal Collection includes more than 550 da Vinci drawings, acquired by King Charles II around 1670. Royal Mail is issuing the stamps February 13 in conjunction with the 500th anniversary of da Vinci’s death.
The drawings selected for “Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing” reflect the full range of his interests: anatomy, architecture, botany, cartography, engineering, geology, music, painting, and sculpture.
The 12 stamps from Royal Mail are in two strips of six with the designs se-tenant. The stamps are also included in a prestige booklet, called Leonardo da Vinci 500 Years. The stamps are non-denominated, each paying the first-class rate.
Stamps show pen-and-ink drawing of a sectioned skull, flora and fauna, anatomy of the shoulder and foot, the head of Leda, the head of a bearded man, an anatomical study of a skeleton, and a woman in a landscape.
