Silver Rupee of Nizam Ali Khan

Situated in the south central region of the Indian subcontinent, Hyderabad was the largest Princely State of the British Raj. The Hyderabad state was founded by Mir Qamar ud din Khan, the governor of Deccan under the Mughals from 1713 to 1721.Nizam Ali Khan ruled the state from 1761 to 1803 AD. He issued silver and copper coins during the reign. These coins were issued in the denomination of Rupee and Paisa from Aurangabad, Daulatabad, and Hyderabad mint.
The above shown silver Rupee was issued during his reign in the name of Shah Alam II. The obverse of a coin showed the legend ‘Shah Alam Badshah’ with AH date 1196. The reverse of a coin inscribed with ‘Sanah 23 Zarb Daulabad Julus Mainamat Manus’.
