2019-02-07 Thu
An auction house from Germany called Christoph Gaertner will be offering several interesting postage stamps for sale from 18th to 22nd February. As many as 16 catalogues have been put up on their official website, containing stamps from China, Asia, Spain and Germany. Stamps, covers and collections from Europe and other parts of the world will also be auctioned. There is a provision for online bidding as well.Postage stamps from liberated areas of China will be up for sale from 18th Morning while the sale of general Chinese stamps will begin on the same day, afternoon onwards. One of the highlights from this category is an unused 30¢-on-24-candareen carmine Dowager first-printing stamp that was issued in 1897. It features a big numerical surcharge and a thin spacing. The stamp is also known as “the Red Ruby” and the offered one is lightly hinged with full original gum. It’s well-centred with large margins and was originally a part of a single pane of 20. The stamp has an officially listed market value of $75,000, however, it’s difficult to value the stamp accurately. Christoph Gaertner is offering this stamp at an opening bid of €50,000.
The Spanish stamps will be offered on 19th Afternoon. One of the highlights from this section includes an 1851 cover to Valencia with a 6-cuarto black and 2-real red-orange featuring black spider cancels. A red Palma D.M. circular datestamp can be seen on the front side. This item would be offered with an opening bidding of €25,000.
