10th Anniversary of Slovakian Euro Commemorated

Slovakia had adopted Euro currency 10 years ago. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the country released special €10 .925 fine silver coins in Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions. Slovakia became a part of the European Union in 2004 and the Euro was adopted in 2009.The coin’s obverse design features elements from the obverse side of the country’s circulation euro coins. The double cross on three hills, Bratislava Castle, and Krivan peak can be clearly seen. Other elements such as the Slovak coat of arms, and the text SLOVENSKO in a semicircle, denomination, year of issue, Mint mark of the Kremnica Mint, made of letters MK between two dies, and initials of coin designer Zbynek Fojtu are also featured on the obverse.
The reverse side features a map of Slovakia inside a euro symbol, introduction date - “1. 1. 2009” and the text “ZAVEDENIE EURA V SLOVENSKEJ REPUBLIKE” which translates to “Introduction of the euro in the Slovak Republic”.
