Sacred Mount Fuji Featured by Nippon Post

Each year UN observes international celebrations since 1959. In the year 1967 world celebrated International Tourist Year. Many countries contributed to this event with issuing many commemorative stamps. Nippon post or Japan Post issued a 50 yen stamp which depicts the ultimate tourism location: Sacred Mount Fuji.Mount Fuji located on Honsh?, is the highest mountain in Japan. Mount Fuji is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" Mount Fuji has "inspired artists and poets and been the object of pilgrimage for centuries". It is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs. Even the post of Japan has issued many stamps featuring this Sacred Mountain.
The stamp was part of a two stamps set issued on 2nd October 1967 to commemorate International Tourist Year. The stamp is denominated 50 yen depicting a beautiful painting of the mountain with birds flying around it. The stamp is inscribed with Japanese inscription at top and bottom along with the denomination value, year of issue and the name of country.
India also issued a 15 paise stamp celebrating the same event. The stamp depicts Indian Tourism Icon Taj Mahal.
