This silver rare tanka issued by Muiz Al-Din Bahram Shah of Mamluk Dynasty. Muiz Al-Din Bahram Shah was a ruler of Delhi Sultanate, he was a son of Shams Al-Din Iltutmish and half brother of Razia Sultan. When Razia Sultan was overthrown from the crown of Delhi Sultanate he took the advantage and sat on the throne of Delhi Sultanate in the year 1240 CE.After sitting on the throne of Delhi Muiz Al-Din Bahram Shah issued coins in gold and silver, a coin issued by him are very rare.
This rare silver tanka issued by him bears the legend ‘Al Sultan Al Azam Muiz Al Dunya Wa’L Din Abu’L Muzaffar Bahram Shah Bin Al Sultan’ in the obverse side. The legend ‘Fi Ahad Al Imam Al-Muntasir Ameer-ul-Muminin’ is written on the reverse side. The weight of this coin is around 10.7g, mint name on this coin is off flan. This coin was sold for INR 8,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 24th November 2018.
