Constitution Day Stamps of Ireland

The two commemorative stamps shown above were issued on 29th December 1937 to celebrate Constitution Day of Ireland.The Constitution of Ireland is the fundamental law of the Republic of Ireland. It asserts the national sovereignty of the Irish people. It is the second constitution of the Irish state since independence, replacing the 1922 Constitution of the Irish Free State. It came into force on 29 December 1937.
The day when the new constitution came into effect is celebrated as the Constitution Day on Ireland. Two commemorative stamps were issued on the occasion. These 2 pence and 3 pence stamps feature n allegory of Ireland and the Constitution.
The new constitution was ratified, by a vote of the people of the Irish Free State, on December 29, 1937, creating the Republic of Ireland.
