After defeating Prithvi Raj Chauhan in the Battle of Tarain in the year 1192 AD, Muhammad Bin Sam came to be popularly known as Muhammad Ghori, he went on to conqueror the North Indian Plain and established Muslim rule in India.Taj al-Din Yildiz was a Turkic slave commander of Ghorids who became a Sultan of Ghori Empire after the death of Muhammad of Ghor in 1206 AD and ruled till 1215 AD.
He issued gold, silver, and billon coins during the reign. These coins found in the denomination of Dinar, Dirham, and Jital. His billon coin depicts the Ruler's Title on its obverse while the reverse of a coin features Horseman, Star, and Devanagari legend Sri Hamira.
Represented above silver Rupee of Taj al-Din Yildiz of Baldat Ghaana mint was sold for INR 27,000 by Todywalla Auctions. The coin shows the ‘Kalima’ with Arabic legend ‘al-Nasir li Din Allah Amir al-Mumineen’ and mint name in the right margin depicted on the obverse face. The reverse showed the legend ‘As Sultan Muizz’ within the rectangle, and the name and titles of Taj al-Din Yildiz in the margin area.
