What’s in Store? Royal Mail’s 2019 Stamp Program

Royal Mail is going to release special postage stamps in 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings along with 200th birth anniversaries of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The D-Day set will comprise of 11 stamps, all of which will be officially released in June 2019.Over 160,000 Allied troops, 13,000 aircraft and 5,000 ships arrived on five beaches in Normandy on 6th June 1944 after two long years of meticulous planning. Called as Operation Overload, the military campaign was initiated to drive the Nazis out of north-west Europe. It is also considered to be the biggest amphibious invasion in history.
A set of 10 postage stamps will be released in May 2019 to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who were born on 24th May 1819 and 26th August 1819, respectively.
Six stamps will feature Queen Victoria at different stages of her life, right from when she was 11 years old, moving on to other significant landmarks during her reign which lasted for 63 years. The other four stamps will be dedicated to Prince Albert.
A set of stamps will be issued in May to celebrate 50 years of British Engineering. A set of commemorative stamps featuring birds of prey will be released in April. These stamps would feature photographs of a red kite, sparrow hawk, merlin, golden eagle and kestrel taken by Tim Flach. Unique flight poses and close-up shots of features would be highlighted in these photographs. Curious Customs stamps will be released in July, a set on Forests will be released in August, Royal Navy Ships Stamps would be out in September and Christmas stamps would be issued in November.
