First Commemorative Stamp of Haiti

The first commemorative stamp of Haiti was issued on 4th November 1929 which commemorated the Signing of Frontier Treaty.The frontier treaty was the annexation and merger of then-independent Republic of Spanish Haiti (formerly Santo Domingo) into the Republic of Haiti. The treaty was signed and the Republc of Haiti was formed.
The stamp depicts portrait of Eustache Antoine Francois Joseph Louis Borno becoming the President of Haiti on right. Borno was the one who contributed majorly in the movement of the unification. On the left the stamp is inscribed with “COMMEMORATION DU TRAITE DE FRONTIERS”.
