Richard M. Nixon had served his country as 37th President of United States from 1969 until 1974; He is best remembered as the only president in the history of the United States who had ever resigned from the office. He stepped down from the office in the year 1974, halfway through his second term, after the Watergate scandal. He resigned when his presidency was at the height of most contentious and unstable era in American history since the civil war. The U.S. economy was floundering with lengthening gas lines, rising unemployment and inflation, and the stock market dropping.Richard Nixon was one of the most successful national politicians in the history of the United Nation. He had won about four national elections; he was elected as vice-president and president of United States for two consecutive years.
