Luxembourg Christmas Stamps Printed on Transparent Foil

Post Luxembourg issued two special self-adhesive Christmas stamps on 4th December using transparent foil. These are the first postage stamps of its kind. The envelope’s material can be seen in the background of the stamp when they are stuck on envelopes.The stamps were printed in panes of 12 by offset lithography on self-adhesive tracing paper by Cartor. One of the designs features a character named as “Mr. Winter Joy” while the other one depicts a character named as “Mrs. Ice Crystal.”
The stamps were designed by illustrator Celine Mazzilli. The stamps depict various interesting elements highlighting winter, Christmas food, decorations etc. The 0.70+0.05 semipostal shows elements like a snowman, pine cones, antlers, bows, berries and gingerbread cookies while the 0.95+0.10 stamp depicts poinsettias, icicles and stars.
