Sikandar Jah Gold Mohur Sold For INR 1,80,000

This gold nazarana mohur issued by Sikandar Jah of Princely State Hyderabad in the Hijri Year 1237, during the 6th year of his reign was sold for INR 1,80,000 in an auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery which was held in Pune on 14th December 2018.Sikandar Jah was the third Nizam of Hyderabad; he ruled Hyderabad from 1803 to 1829 AD. During his rule, he struck coins in all three metals gold, silver, and copper from the Hyderabad mint.
This gold nazarana mohur issued by him was minted in Hyderabad and it weighs around 11.16g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed ‘Sikka Mubarak Badshah Gazi Muhammad Akbar Shah’ with the Hijri year 1237. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the ‘Julus formula’ mint name Hyderabad with regnal year 6.
