William Howard Taft was born on 15th September 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father was a lawyer who served as the Secretary of War and the Attorney General under President Ulysses S. Grant. He completed his graduation in the year 1878 from Yale University and later he went to Law School to complete his law degree. In the year 1880, he passed his bar exam and then opens his law practice.William Howard Taft had served his country as 27th President of United States from 1909 to 1913 and also as tenth chief justice of United States from 1921 to 1930. He was the only person in the United States to have held both offices. After becoming the president of United States he established a parcel post service that had helped to stimulate nationwide commerce and trade; he had also passed sixteenth amendment creating a federal income tax, He also created Department of Labour which had helped an average worker by ensuring things like workplace safety, wage standards, work hour and unemployment insurance. He also played an important role for passing 17th amendment law which stated that U.S. Senators were to be elected by the people rather than by the state legislatures.
The United States had issued his commemorative coin which depicts his portrait on the obverse side of the coin.
