Silver Pedigree Tanka of Ahmad Shah I

Gujarat Sultanate was a late medieval kingdom established in the early 15th Century. It was established by Zafar Khan (son of Sadharan, a Tanka Rajput) in the year 1396. He was appointed as a Governor of Gujarat by Nasir-ud-din Muhammad Bin Tughluq IV in the year 1391 AD.Ahmad Shah I was a Sultan of Gujarat sultanate from 1411 to 1442 AD. During the reign he issued gold, silver, and copper coins. His coins were known as Tanka, Falus and their different fractions.
This silver Pedigree Tanka was issued in his reign in 835 AH. The obverse of a coin is depicted with Arabic legend ‘al-Sultan al-'Azam Nasir al-Dunyawa al-Din Abu al-Fateh’. The reverse of a coin bore the legend ‘Ahmad Shah bin Muhammad Shah bin Muzaffar Shah Khulidat Khilafatahu’ within rectangular field and date inscribed in words in the margins.
