Border Security Force was established
2018-12-01 Sat
When we are sleeping safely at home, BSF’s Jawans are having a night out at the international border. The country's borders are safe and secure because they are always on guard. Yes, these are the brave soldiers protecting our motherland.Border Security Force completed sterling 53 years in the service of the Nation on today 01 December 2018. Established on December 1, 1965, BSF has a vital role in ensuring the security and integrity of the nation. Since its inception, BSF has successfully tackled many infiltration and attacks.
It was founded after the Indo-Pak war, as war identified the insufficient border security system in India. During the Indo-Pakistani War, the border management system was in the hands of the State Armed Police Battalion, and these proved incapable of properly dealing with border threats. Following these episodes, the government created the Border Security Force as a unified central agency with the specific mandate of guarding India's international boundaries.
We live in a free country with opportunities unbound because there are soldiers protecting our borders. Mintage World salutes to BSF’s Jawan for making it possible at the cost of their lives!
To mark the glorious service of the Border Security Force, India Post has issued 500 Paisa Commemorative Postage Stamp in 2015.
