Malwa Sultan Gold Tanka Listed For INR 50,000

Ala Al-din Mahmud Shah I was the Sultan of Malwa; he ruled the Malwa Sultanate from 1439CE to 1469CE. The Malwa Sultanate was founded by Dilawar Khan Gauri, who was the governor of Delhi Sultanate in Malwa.Ala Al-Din Mahmud Shah I had issued coins in gold, Silver, copper and billion in various denominations. One of the most amazing thing about his coinage is he issued gold 5 tanka which weighs around 55.4g, he must have struck this coin for a special occasion. Most of his coins were minted in ‘Hadrat Shadiabad’.
This gold tanka which weighs around 10.9g was minted in Hadrat Shadiabad. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al Sultan Al-Azam Ala Dunya Wal Din Khalji Abul Muzaffar Mahmud Shah Khallada Allah Khilafatahu’ and Reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikandar Al Thani Yamin Al Khilafa Nasir Amir Al Muminin".
This coin is listed with INR 50,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Auction House which will be held on 15th December 2018.
