‘Dakghar’ Honoured by India Post

India Post Honoured Rabindranath Tagore’s yet another Literary Magic “Dakghar”. A special commemorative stamp along with a miniature sheet was issued in 2008.Written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1912, the play “Dakghar” (meaning – post office) revolves around a child called Amal who is trapped in his uncle’s house due to an incurable disease.
The play ascends the Reputation of Rabindranath Tagore and was translated into many languages including English, French and German. This extraordinary play is featured by India Post.
The Miniature sheet of Rs.15 depicts Amal, looking at a post office from a window. The post office is featured on a Rs.5 stamp.
The miniature sheet vividly portrays the whole scene symbolizing hope and deliverance which perfectly depicts the feelings of the young boy.
