With the season’s first snowfall settling in, there is an excitement for the Christmas that is just around the corner! There is something about this season that brings out the child in all of us. In an attempt to nurture the child in us, the Royal Mint has released a 50 Pence coin commemorating 40 years of Raymond Brigg’s classic story The Snowman! The Snowman is a children's picture book without words by English author Raymond Briggs, first published in 1978 by Hamish Hamilton in the United Kingdom. The story goes like this, “on a cold winter’s night a snowman comes to life and befriends the little boy who built him. After exploring the boy’s house together and sharing a candlelit feast, the pair flies across the frozen countryside, before racing home to beat the dawn, but wonder turns to sadness. The next morning, the boy wakes to find his snowman has melted.”
This Cupro-nickel, Brilliant-Uncirculated Coin features the Snowman and the boy flying through the air. Go on, relive your childhood. Grab one of these cute little coins before it’s too late!
