The production of a new 10 euro collector’s coin featuring a colourless polymer ring began at the Karlsruhe mint in Germany on 11th November. Finance Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg was present during the inaugural ceremony. A joining machine is used to connect the polymer ring with the metallic core and ring on minting presses from the Schuler Group.

The obverse design is created by Natalie Tekampe from Muncheberg and features a paraglider with mountains in the background. Andre Witting from Berlin created the reverse design featuring an eagle, text “Bundesrepublik Deutschland” which translates to "Federal Republic of Germany", and the 12 European stars. It’s a part of a three-coin series called “Air Moves”. Mint qualities of “uncirculated” and “proof” coins will be available for sale from mid-2019.

The next release of the five euro collector’s coin from the “Climate Zones of the Earth” series will happen in the second half of next year. This coin will have a green polymer ring and its obverse will feature a European rabbit to indicate the temperate latitudes.
