2018-11-13 Tue
A souvenir sheet of four stamps was issued by Faroe Islands in 2014 to observe the 100th anniversary of World War I. Another Souvenir sheet of four se-tenant 10-krone stamps were released on 24th September this year to observe the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Both the sheets were designed by Anker Eli Petersen. One stamp features soldiers and a map representing 1918 battles. Another one features Canadian and Belgian nurses with an ambulance driver from Great Britain’s First Aid Nursing Yeomanry.
The remaining two stamp designs represent the armistice. An English soldier and a German Soldier are carrying a wounded French soldier on a stretcher from one stamp to the other. Only time and destiny will tell whether the soldier's life will be saved or sacrificed for the War.
