The birth name of Shah Alam II was Ali Gauhar, He was the sixteenth Mughal Emperor of India who sat on a Mughal throne. He was the son of Alamgir II; he sat on the Mughal throne after murdering his father and took the title Shah Alam II. He ruled the from 1759 CE until 1806 CE.The Mughal Empire ruled the Indian Subcontinent during the medieval period. The golden period of Mughal Empire begins with the victory of Babar over Ibrahim Lodi in the First Battle of Panipat in the year 1526 and it started declining with the death of Aurangzeb in the year 1707.

The weight of this coin is around 10.8g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of ‘Shah Alam II’ with the Hijri year 1180 and reverse of this coin is inscribed with the julus formula; regnal year 8 and mint name.
