Copper Takka of Sardar Jodh Singh

The Princely State of Kalsia was formerly a native state of East Punjab, India. It comprised of twenty detached pieces of territory in Ambala and Ferozepur Districts. In 1760 Gurbaksh Singh established this state. The native ruler of the state held the title of ‘Sardar’ until the year 1916, after which the ruler of the Indian princely state was addressed as Raja.Sardar Jodh Singh ruled the Kalsia Princely State from 1785 to 1818 AD. He issued copper falus or dams which were struck at Chhachhrauli, which was the capital of the State of Kalsia. The designs of these coins denote the Mughal style which was very similar to the coins of Saharanpur. These coins bear the name of the Mughal Emperor, Shah Alam II.
