Aurangzeb's Gold Mohur Sold For INR 55,000

This Gold mohur was issued by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb during the 8th year of his reign was sold for INR 50,000 in an auction of Todywalla which was held in Chennai on 6th October 2018. This Gold mohur was issued by him from the min Allahabad during the Hijri year 1076.Aurangzeb issued his coins in all three metals gold, silver and copper. He had forbidden the use of kalmia in his coin to prevent defiling, as the coin passed through the hand of kafirs (Non-Muslim people). There are two types of couplets with are found on his coins, ‘Mihir-e-Munir couplet' and ‘Badr-e-Munir couplet'; these couplets came into the use at different dates at different mints.
