Tipu Sultan Silver Rupee Sold For INR 50,000

This Silver rupee which was issued by Mysore king Tipu Sultan was sold for INR 50,000 in an auction of Todywalla which was held in Chennai on 6th October 2018. Tipu Sultan was the son of Hyder Ali and Fatima Fakhr Khan. They had initially named their son Fateh Khan. He was later renamed as Tipu Sultan, after the local saint Tipu Mastan Aulia. The full name of Tipu Sultan was Fateh Ali Khan Shahab. One of the interesting things about this coin is this coin is having toothed border on both the sides, with oblique milling.
