Taiwan Issued Stamps on Conservation of Birds

Taiwan has issued a set of four stamps on a sheet featuring its unique bird species, Swinhoe’s pheasant.

The Swinhoe’s pheasant is considered to be the unofficial national bird of the country as it bears the colours of the national flag of the country. This unique bird of Taiwan has been an endangered species and hence needs to be looked after.

Taiwan has issued a se-tenant block of four stamps to create awareness about the species and to promote the idea of conservation.

The stamps with the denomination of NT$5 depict immature young males and a full grown male with a bright red wattle on each cheek, a dark bluish-black head and long tail feathers.

The NT$10 stamp features the chicks and the stamp with the value of NT$12 depicts a female being followed by chicks. The female is brown overall with a dense arrow and v-shaped patterns.
