Every year 24th October is celebrated as United Nation Day around the world. This followed a declaration by the United Nations General Assembly in 1947 which chosen 24th of October, the centenary of the Charter of the United Nations, as United Nations Day.73 years ago from today in 1945 the United Nation officially came into being. The main purpose this organization is to maintain international peace and security, to develop friendly relations among nations, and respect and consider fundamental freedom and human rights for all. Starting with just 51 member nations, the U.N. now has 193.
United Nation Day has traditionally been marked throughout the world by meeting, discussions, and exhibits about the achievements and goals of the organization. Many countries include India has issued commemorative postage stamp to celebrate this occasion.
