Silver Dirham of Taj al-Din Yildiz

Taj al-Din Yildiz was a Turkic slave commander of Ghorids who became a Sultan of Ghori Empire after the death of Muhammad of Ghor in 1206 AD and ruled till 1215 AD.He issued gold, silver, and billon coins during the reign. These coins found in the denomination of Dinar, Dirham, and Jital. His billon coin depicts the Ruler's Title on its obverse while the reverse of a coin features Horseman, Star, and Devanagari legend Sri Hamira.
Depicted here is a silver Dirham of Taj al-Din Yildiz which was minted at Baldat Ghazna in 611 AH. It was sold for INR 27,000 by Todywalla Auctions. Kalima ‘La Ilaha Illahu Muhammadur Rasulullah’ Arabic legend ‘al-Nasir li Din Allah Amir al-Mumineen’ and mint name in the right margin depicted on the obverse face of a coin. The reverse showed the legend ‘As Sultan Muizz’ within the rectangle, and the name and titles of Taj al-Din Yildiz in the margin area.
